Learning about Yourself

"I benefited most from the holistic, overall experience at CSB and SJU. While college prepared me academically to enter a career in the business world, it also helped me develop socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

"I believe the dynamic nature of the CSB/SJU experience has equipped me to take on whatever is put in front of me. The experience, grounded by the positive influence of Benedictine values, helped me to understand myself, taught me how to learn, to interact with others, and how to communicate. It is this foundation that I achieved the confidence to deploy into the career of my choosing."

Learning in a Global Economy

"I am able to apply my CSB/SJU experience every day in a fast paced career at a Fortune 200 company like Best Buy. I am leading the development of process and technology solutions for our International Global Sourcing Department.

"I recently had an opportunity to help facilitate an offsite meeting with team members from our U.S. and Shanghai, China offices. The meeting was focused on improving cross-cultural relationships, communication, and addressing key business issues. I relied heavily on my ability to develop relationships, think on my feet, and communicate with team members across different cultures to achieve business outcomes."

Learning in a Community

"I view myself as a Johnnie, not just someone who went to Saint John's. I think this subtle distinction implies that I continue to belong to the CSB/SJU community. The strength of the CSB/SJU network is active and vibrant, which is also evident at Best Buy. The 65 alums who work at the corporate campus stay connected through a common e-mail distribution to communicate as well as hosting events with the colleges.

"The past two years, alums have hosted incoming students and their parents at an Accepted Students reception at Best Buy's headquarters."
