Financial Aid, Costs & Scholarships

Timeline

November 15, 2007—Our early action application date for scholarships means that scholarship decisions will be mailed by December 20 to all students who have completed an application by November 15. (For students applying after November 15, see our Application Timeline.)

December 15, 2007—If you are an artist, heads up. This is our final deadline for Art, Music and Theater Scholarship applications. The application will be available online in September.

December 15, 2007—If you are eligible for our Regents'/Trustees' Scholarship, this is the deadline to apply. Students apply for the Regents'/Trustees' and other academic scholarships by completing the "Application for Admission & Scholarships for 2008-2009 Academic Year" (download application for admission or apply online).

March 15, 2008
—This is the recommended deadline to apply for need-based financial aid, (grants, on-campus employment, student loans.) To apply, students must complete these two forms:

  1. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)—available from high school guidance offices in November or online at:  www.fafsa.ed.gov
School codes (required in Step 6 of the FAFSA):
    CSB (women) 002341
    SJU (men) 002379
  2. CSB/SJU Financial Aid Application— A form is also mailed to students with their scholarship notification. These forms should be filled out as soon as possible after January 1, 2008 and following completion of the student and parents’ 2007 federal tax returns. A link to this application will be placed on our Web site in December.

CSB/SJU will notify applicants of their need-based eligibility starting in mid-March. Awards are done on a rolling basis as applications become complete. Allow five weeks from the date of mailing FAFSA and the CSB/SJU Financial Aid Application for a response from the college.

Students do not need to complete the FAFSA or CSB/SJU Financial Aid Application if they only plan to apply for scholarships.

May 1, 2008—This is the national response date. Admitted students have a place reserved in the incoming class until this date, so it's important to send your enrollment deposit ($300) to us before May 1 if you plan to attend CSB/SJU. Because of strong interest, CSB/SJU are unable to guarantee enrollment to students who deposit after May 1.
