Below are the challenges and expectations outlined by the Board of Regents for the interim president of Saint John's University.
TOP CHALLENGES FOR SJU:
1. Financial: economy; budget (tuition, compensation); fundraising & campaign priorities
2. Major University Initiatives:
a. Campaign (First Gen. Scholarships, Library)
b. Library Planning
c. Corporate Structure
d. Search for HMML Director
3. Sustaining high academic quality through the Coordinate Relationship with CSB
4. Sustaining the confidence of Saint John's constituencies (faculty, staff, students, alums, donors) during a time of uncertainty
KEY EXPECTATIONS FOR THE INTERIM PRESIDENT
Ensure the ongoing vitality of the University, specifically the confidence and continued commitment of all key constituencies - faculty, administrators, students, parents, alumni and friends - by achieving specific goals including but not limited to the following:
1. Ensure the short-term viability of the University with special attention to enrollment, fiscal well-being (tuition, compensation, etc.) and an appropriate “public face” including fundraising.
2. Foster a vigorous commitment to key University initiatives, among them:
a. Campaign (including First Gen. Scholarships and Library)
b. Library Planning
c. Corporate Restructuring
d. Search for HMML Director
3. Maintain a constructive and productive Coordinate Relationship with CSB
4. Ensure that the University’s administrators, faculty and students maintain a strong commitment to the University’s vision, mission and priorities.
5. Provide decisive leadership to the University’s Cabinet in key policy and administrative issues.
