UPDATE ON THE SEARCH FOR THE NEXT PRESIDENT AT THE COLLEGE OF SAINT BENEDICT

We are pleased to inform the College of Saint Benedict community that our presidential search is under way.

Our search consultants, Ms. Maya Ranchod Kirkhope and Dr. Andrea Warren Hamos of Academic Search, Inc., visited campus in November and met with board members, senior administrators, faculty, staff, Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict, alumnae and students during their time here. Many thanks to those individuals who were able to meet with Maya and Andrea to provide them with helpful and informative insights about the opportunities for CSB's next president.

Our first search committee meeting with the search consultants was held on November 22, and we discussed the search process and key criteria for organizing a search; reviewed a preliminary timeline; and laid the groundwork for the first important steps that will launch the search. Based on their research and campus conversations, Maya and Andrea have developed a job advertisement and position profile describing the key institutional needs and priorities, and a related set of desired characteristics for our next president. The job advertisement has been posted in a number of publications including the Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Education, Women in Higher Education, the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities, and Hispanic Outlook.

We urge you to suggest people you know who could serve effectively as our next president or those who might recommend potential candidates. Please complete the confidential online nomination form or forward name(s) to our consultants. The success of our search will depend on the involvement, support and interest of all members of the CSB community.

Maya and Andrea have begun to work on generating a robust candidate pool. In addition to posting the job advertisement in key publications, they will reach out to a broad network of contacts and follow up on nominations submitted by you and other members of the higher education community. The search committee will begin to review applications in late January and expects to identify a small group of candidates whose skills and expertise appear to be most closely related to our needs. The committee expects to conduct neutral-site interviews in mid-February and plans to invite finalists to campus in late February. We expect the successful candidate to assume office during the summer of 2014.

You will receive another update on the presidential search in a few weeks. In addition, information about the search will be posted on this Presidential Search Website. Thank you for your continued interest and support.
