Although I flirted with the possibility of becoming an English major, I finally settled on a history and social science double major with a secondary education minor in the hopes of one day becoming a high school social studies teacher. Historical fiction is my favorite genre of novels as well as movies. Although never as wonderful as the reading the actual book, many of my favorite movies are adaptions of literature, including Gone with the Wind, Jane Eyre, and She's the Man.
I love learning about different cultures and not only hope to travel abroad in the coming years but also teach abroad at least for a few years. I also love climbing, learning anything about World War II, visiting art museums, and drinking coffee. Although I often contemplate if my survival without coffee would be possible, if my diet consisted solely of bacon, blue cheese, and chocolate I would still be one happy camper.
Making a great first impression is key to success. I love helping writers work on grabbing the reader's attention with an enticing introduction, tempting the reader to continue. A great introduction sets the tone for the rest of the paper. I love working with writers at any stage of their paper, knowing each stage is important and will help make the subsequent stages easier. I am a firm believer in outlines or any tools that make writing more enjoyable. On a final note, helping writers realize the power of their words and the impact they can have on a reader is one of the most fulfilling parts of being a tutor.
