Student-Run Greenhouse
A group of students are creating a student run greenhouse to grow food that will be used in Gorecki. The greenhouse will be constructed Spring 2012. For more information contact Stephanie Pinkalla. Check back for my updates and how you can get involved.

Composting
Mary Wood, Sustainability Intern, is creating a program that will allow students in the residence halls to compost their waste on campus. Students will be responsible for collecting their own compost and bringing it to a compost site on campus. Email us with questions and learn how you can start composting.

Cardboard Collection at Move-In
Students across campus helped collect cardboard during move-in. In total, 8,960 pounds (4.48 tons) were collect. Thanks for everyone who helped the process be more sustainable and generate less waste.
Bottled Water Free Campus: August 22nd, 2011
Tips:
- Still drink lots of water- it is good for you!
- Carry a reusable water bottle everyday (if you don't have one, a variety of kinds are available for purchase in the bookstore)
- Refill it as needed at hydration stations and water fountains
- Express yourself through your bottle; decorate it or plaster it with stickers
- Write your name and PO Box on the base of your bottle
What and where are hydration stations?
Hydration stations are water bottle fillers generally located near water fountains. These stations provide filtered water in an easy and accessible way.

Recycling Shift: '2 Sort System'
Now you only need to separate Commingled Recycling and Cardboard/Paper from Trash.
- Commingled Recycling: plastic, aluminum, tin, glass
- Cardboard/Paper: flattened, cardboard; all varieties of paper
Outdoor Recycling Centers
- Commingled Recycling in red lidded carts
- Cardboard/Paper in green lidded containers
Indoor Recycling Centers will be added in each building as well.
Trayless Initiative
The Gorecki Dining Center and other trayless dining facilities conserve energy, water, and soap, as well as reduce food waste. Thank you for your support in our campus sustainability commitment.
Student Printing Policy
As part of our ongoing commitment to responsible consumption and conserving resources, CSB/SJU has implemented a new Student Printing Policy for all students, student clubs and organizations that started August 31, 2011.
Eco Reps
Eco Reps is part of a program that educates fellow residents to use more sustainable practices in their living situations. Eco Reps work closely with RDs and RAs in the first-year and sophomore dorms.
