Monastic Institute
The Monastic Imaginary and the Common Life
June 30 - July 4, 2013
By our shared activities of prayer and work, we create an environment that in turn shapes us. Our imaginations play a key role in shaping our lived experience. As we perceive the blessings and challenges facing our communities, we conceive of what is possible for us according to God's promises mediated through the tradition and embodied in the witness of our ancestors. These efforts to "think big" about the monastic and Christian life invite us to live in joy and in hope.
