The Energy Challenge Results are in!
Winners: Aurora and Seton & Frank*!
From Feb. 1st to 26th, Aurora reduced its electricity use by 13.88% and Seton by 10.97% and Frank by 5.68%.
Aurora C and Benet 4 won the Green Crib Certification Competition on each campus by having 100% and 31% of rooms certified, respectively.
During the Energy Challenge, St. Ben's campus saved 7,333 kWh of electricity, and St. John's 6,118**kWh.
Combined that is equal to: 28,000 lbs of carbon or about $950.
Results were found using this carbon per kWh conversion and 7 cents per kWh.
* Seton is heated by electricity, and the warm weather gave them an advantage; however, we cannot completely discount their efforts. As a result, Seton and Frank will share the celebration! Next year, we will account for Seton's electrical heat.
** Due to lapses in the new St. John's Metering System, this number accounts for only 14 days in February. Thanks to the energy challenge keeping a close eye on the metering this bug was discovered.
