Saint John's Campus Ministry hosts many retreats throughout the academic year. Check out our upcoming and past retreats below.
FYRE - 2014 date to be determined
FYRE (First Year Retreat Experience) is an annual retreat designed specifically for first-year students, focusing on spirituality and community-building. Students spend the weekend off campus at Camp Ihduhapi (transportation is provided) to reflect, discuss their personal faith, and participate in a series of talks and activities. The retreat will cover such topics as maintaining a faith life in the busy college setting, having a relationship with God, relying on God, and relating with one's peers. It is a weekend of discovery that poses the questions: "Who am I in this transition to college? Who am I going to be? Where does God fit into my life at CSB/SJU? Upperclassmen continuously call this retreat one of their favorite memories of their first year at SJU/CSB. The cost is $20, which includes transportation, meals, and a t-shirt. Money can be paid at SJU Campus Ministry Office in Mary 100. Sign up by follwing this link:
The Busy Man Retreat - September 15-19, 2013
The Busy Man Retreat is a weeklong opportunity for Johnnies with hectic schedules to find time for their faith by just taking a few minutes out of their day for prayer and reflection. Participants also meet with a Monk Mentor and talk about their reflections on that day's reading and what it meant to them. This is an opportunity to attend a retreat that will fit your busy schedule and still allow you to grow closer to God.
STILL Retreat (Silence Together in Living Life)
The STILL Retreat offeres a time for silent meditation through inentional meditative listening. This experience will incorporate the Rule of St. Benedict and the Benedictine Charism of SJU/CSB as participants discuss such questions as "What is my relation to God, his Church, and me?." This retreat is to be a macrocosm of everyday life, where participants will be able to find time for intimate silence each day.
Men's Chicago Service Retreat
This is an opportunity for Johnnies to go on a service trip to Chicago, IL and grow as a group. They will volunteer with New Life Ministries' afterschool program, and also at Saint James Parish in Chicago, IL, which is a site for the Saint John's Benedictine Volunteer Corps (SJBVC). The service trip also includes fellowship, prayer, reflection, and discussion about what it means to serve.
