Faith Formation

At SJU Campus Ministry, we are committed to forming Christians with a deep knowledge of their faith, ready to witness to Christ in the world. Our goal in faith formation is well summarized by the US Bishops: "Campus ministry has the task of enabling Catholics to achieve a more adult appropriation of their faith so that they can live in greater communion with God and the Church, give more effective witness to the Gospel, and face the challenges to belief that exist in the academic world" (#45, Empowered by the Spirit).

RCIA

RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process by which adults are initiated into the Catholic Church.  The RCIA process is specifically designed for:

• Non-baptized adults who want to be initiated into the Catholic Church
• Baptized Christians who desire full communion with the Catholic Church
• Baptized but uncatechized Catholics who have not received Eucharist or Confirmation
• Any person who is interested in learning more about the faith of the Catholic Church

RCIA is more than a simple program.  It is a journey in which adults discern and then respond to the call to be more deeply united to God in and through the Catholic Church. We welcome anyone who is interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. Learn more about RCIA.

Theology on Tap

Faith and Theology in the Pub!  Theology on Tap is an informal venue in which students and professors can discuss theology over a pint of Guinness (or perhaps Old Johnnie Ale, or whatever suits you).  We hope to get folks thinking theologically, and this semester we have some great theological topics presented by professors who have a passion for sharing their deepest interests with students.   

Bible Studies

Weekly Contemplative Bible Study

During the fall semester we will be offering a six week Bible Study Series. The focus will be on "Seeing the Word", a series developed by the St. John's School of Theology-Seminary and put out by the Liturgical Press. We will be engaging in visio and lectio divina which is an ancient form of prayer using sacred scripture, and in this case, combined with images from the St. John's Bible. Every Wed after that @ 7:30 pm in St. Francis Chapel (excluding the Wed of long weekend).
