Supervisor Appreciation Luncheon

There were 79 supervisors registered for the Supervisor Appreciation Luncheon.    Thirteen of those registered did not attend and we had six walk ins.  Therefore, we served 72 supervisors lunch in Gorecki 204B on Thursday, May 22, 2008.  Supervisors RSVP’d ahead of time and lunch orders were given.   Food was served buffet style.  We ordered  55 Chicken Caesar wraps, 22 Tuscan Vegetable wraps, Italian pasta salad and potato chips.  Also included were brownies for dessert along with coffee, tea, milk, and ice water w/ lemon.  The food budget was $544.80 from food service ($8.00 for the Tuscan Veggie Wrap and $8.35 for the Chicken Caesar Wrap).

We had a registration table, podium, microphone, and a laptop computer with internet access.   Barb provided a list of people who signed up for the events along with pre-printed name tags and extra name tags.    We had 10 tables with 8 people per table.  We gave out the Supervisor’s Creed (see below), a “You Rock” rock , Hershey’s Kisses, a SELT brochure, and ICLP brochure at each table setting.    We also printed off a few Tips For Supervising Student Employees to put on the tables.

Twenty people received door prizes.  SELT donated 7 SELT mugs.  Gifts were also purchased from the CSB Bookstore ($110 budget).  Some of the things that were purchased from the bookstore were a CSB/SJU red hooded sweatshirt, blue CSB/SJU baseball cap, three (3) $5 bookstore gift cards, a CSB/SJU Cookbook, a Matt Haider cd, a backpack, two black CSB/SJU coffee cups, CSB Bennie Blend coffee.   Angie Arens donated a few Tastefully Simple products.   They were Tastefully Simple Nana’s Apple Cake, Tastefully Simple Cranberry Pecan Bread Mix and  Tastefully Simple Berry Buckle  Cake.

 

The Supervisor's Creed

If employees are continually criticized, they learn to avoid the

responsibilities that they might be criticized for doing.

If employees are treated with disrespect, they find little reason to respect

their product or service.

If employees are treated like children, they learn to act like children.

If employees are ridiculed or ignored when they suggest new ideas, they

learn to avoid creativity.

If employees are not praised for their efforts or accomplishments, they learn

that there is little sense in trying harder or making an extra effort.

If employees are encouraged and treated with respect, they become

inspired to reach their potential.

If employees are praised and recognized for their accomplishments, they

strive even harder to excel in their efforts.

If employees are treated in an honest and fair manner, they respond by

giving the organization an honest and fair day of work.

If employees are challenged and given the opportunity to use their skills to

the fullest, they feel fulfilled and committed to the work they do.

If employees are seen and treated as mature, responsible adults, they will

behave as mature, responsible adults.

If employees are to succeed, it is the level of support, encouragement, and

concern they receive from their supervisor that will determine their chances

for success…for the success of the employee is a direct reflection of the

success of the supervisor
