Name: Rita Allen Class: Junior (2013) Major: Philosophy, pre-med concentration Involvement: Praise in the Pub, Coordinator for Magis Ministries, Companions on a Journey, the occasion dance/theatre production, volunteering co-founder of CSBSJU Hardcore Parkour Unofficial Club I became an OL because... Orientation can be one of the highlights of college (I know it's dangerous to peak too early in the game but still) and that is largely dependent on your orientation leader. I'm here to ease you into your college career in a comical way! Also, I am smitten with this school and would like to make my first-years equally obsessed. If you could be any food, what would it be? Why? A taco, because I'm spicy. Memorable College Experience: First of all, I'm writing this while studying abroad from Spain, which is a pretty memorable experience in itself. As I think back over the past two years (I'm old) I realize that I have far too much to type. Christmas and Thanksgiving here are off the hook, Johnnie football owns Saturdays in the fall (and keep in mind I was in no shape or form a sports fan before I started college), AWKWARD PROM (inquire for details), Maple Syrup Festival-- but this is just the beginning. Hanging out with my roommates, funny things at meal times (it's weird how quickly the people you live and go to class with become your family), awesome classes, a billion trillion concerts, crazy speakers, dances, and in general RANDOM PEOPLE. There's just too much to say. Trust me, I'll be talking plenty when the time comes. BRACE YOURSELVES! |

I am IN LOVE with CSB|SJU!!! Coming here is the best decision I've ever made and I want YOU to get excited about the decision you made too! If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: I would be a plate of buffalo wings because they're one of the most loved appetizers, and I would get to be slathered in bleu cheese dressing. Memorable College Experience: Move-in day my first year, Johnnie football Saturdays, and studying abroad in Roma and Greece! |

I want to start off all the first-years' experience of CSB-SJU the right way! If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: I would be a bowl of Rice Krispies cereal, because they're loud and they're a great thing to wake up to in the morning... just like me! Memorable College Experience: Storming the field (twice) during the 2009 homecoming game against Bethel after our Johnnie kicker kicked a 49 yard field goal to beat them by two points in the last three seconds. |

I had a great orientation leader! She made me realize how truly special this school is! I absolutely love CSBSJU, and I want others to have the same experience! Memorable College Experience: Making popcorn and hanging out with the ladies on my floor was so fun, and it never got old! Trips with the wrestling team to Las Vegas, the Wisconsin Dells, and LaCrosse were also memorable, to say the least! |

Name: Jackie Carlson Class: Senior Major: Peace Studies with minors in Management and Environmental studies Involvement: Co-Senior Bonner Intern, Special Olympics Bowling Coach, Big Sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central MN, Phillips Scholar, Service-Learning Academic Coordinator, and a member of the Sustainability Alliance. I became an OL because... I have had such a wonderful experience at CSB-SJU and I would like to give back to the school and assist new students in understanding the opportunities that this school offers. I would also like to get more incoming first year students involved in service and can be a resource for them because of my past experience. If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: A mango because it thrives in the warm climates. Memorable College Experience: The summer after my sophomore year I stayed up in St. Joe and those hot summer days were filled with hanging out with college friends, canoe riding on Lake Sag, hiking in the arboretum, grilling, and enjoying a different kind of St. Joe. One of my best college experiences even though it technically was not when college was in session. It was WONDERFUL. |

Name: Christine Cohen Class: 2013 Major: Elementary Education Involvement: Women's Choir and AKS I became an OL because... I want to show the new Bennies and Johnnies what a fantastic community they are becoming a part of. I am from Connecticut, and being from out-of-state I appreciated everything my orientation leader did for me. I am looking forward to returning the favor! J If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: Apple. They are tart or sweet, delicious with peanut butter, and there is nothing better than walking through an apple orchard. P.S. We happen to have an orchard on campus! Memorable College Experience: For the last two years, I have been an active member of the CSB Women's Choir. Our biggest concert of the year is Christmas at Saint John's in which we perform with both of the other choirs. The setting, music and company have created some of the best memories I have at CSB/SJU! |

I became an OL because... I wanted to make Orientation memorable for the first-years in my group. Many of the great things I've learned at school take place outside of the classroom. I hope Orientation can be one of those fun, out of the box learning experiences where I can help others make connections with new people and a new home. If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: I would be an apple because I would get to spend time hanging in a tree! Then when I felt like it, I could take a leap to the ground, be picked up by someone who catches my eye, spend some quality time in the digestive system, then grow into a new tree in the future! Memorable College Experience: Competing for the maple syrup award with my first-year bio class and winning ice cream with warm maple syrup on top...yum! |

Name: Brenna Finley Class: Senior Major: Communication and Political Science Involvement: St. Ben's Senate, Page Editor or the Record Newspaper, Program Coordinator at the Institute for Women's Leadership, Student Preparation Committee and a few more fun clubs. I became an OL because... I love to talk to people about CSB/SJU and all of the great things I've experienced here! Last year I was an OL and it was so great to be able to introduce new Bennies and Johnnies to the school and community we have. If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: Popcorn. It's exciting to make, delicious and goes really well with Diet Coke and candy at movies. Memorable College Experience: All of them! If I had to pick one it would be dancing with CSB Dance Team at the first SJU football game during my first year of college. It was the first time I felt like a real live college student. :) |

Name: Marcelline Gangl Class: Sophomore/Class of 2014 Major: Good question! Perhaps something with Psychology, Theatre or French (maybe a combination of all three) Involvement: I was a member of Swing Catz and played in the Symphonic Band here on campus. Whenever I could be, I helped out in the theatre department and I acted in a show this past spring. I became an OL because... my OL was amazing! And after the first week of school, I realized that I had fallen in love with the campus and I wanted to share that love with all the incoming freshmen. If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: Cheerios. They are the all-time best breakfast cereal and they're good for the heart. Honey-Nut Cheerios though because they are sweeeter! (and just the better kind of cheerio) Memorable College Experience: I remember the first Thursday here and my acting class had gone to a show on-campus. I didn't really know the people in my class but after the show we stood in an awkward circle and talked forever that night; they had to kick us out! It was nice to know that the people here were welcoming and so very nice! |

What food I would be and why: a jalapeño, because it's a little food with a big kick! Memorable college experience: too many to count! I would have to say one of my favorite though was running in the St Cloud Earth Day half marathon with other girls from St Bens - and training for it on all the gorgeous trails and roads around and between the campuses. |

I would have to say all of the shenanigans that my friends and I did while being first years in Aurora. One night we found a moving cart and tied strings to it and gave rides all over the dorm. I really enjoyed orientation last year! I felt 100 times better about going to classes after orientation because my leaders were so great! I wanted the opportunity to do that for someone else! If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: I would be a chocolate chip cookie. Whats there not to like about them?!? Best food around :) Memorable College Experience: This summer has been my favorite college experience! I traveled to Spain (I am currently there) for a May term trip! It was the time of my life. Name: Cat Quinn Class: 2013 Major: Elementary Education Involvement: Special Olympics Basketball and Bowling Coach, Intramural Three-Season Athlete, Admissions Programming Assistant, Tour Guide, Benedictine Friends, Journey Group I became an OL because... what a better way to help the new first years be welcomed and love their first week at CSBSJU:) If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: This is not an easy question. I could say rainbow sprinkles on an ice cream cone, or just a plain ole bag of nestle chocolate chips, but I don't if I could live without peanut butter. Peanut butter can pretty much be eaten with anything, and in fact, I believe I eat a good amount of peanut butter at least two times a day! Memorable College Experience: With soooo many to choose from, some of my top choices are Johnnie Football games, mud-sliding by the baseball parks in the rain, Flag Football, Basketball and Softball Intramurals, Night games, '10 Volleyball Intramural Champions and winning the first annual Pines '11 kickball tournament. |

I want to show the first-years that we're a diverse community but a community none the less! If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: I would be conch salad which is one of our most popular dishes in the Bahamas (Google it!). It's made up of a variety of different ingredients but once they all come together it's delicious. I think that represents me perfectly. A lot of different things comprise my character but all together they work out pretty well! Memorable College Experience: Building my first Snowman (Frank) on one of our snow days during my first year. I never knew that so much went into it! Like what type of snow to use, how to roll the snow balls...it was cold but extremely fun. Of course it ended in a massive snow fight! |

Name: Kelsey Rose Class : Senior Major: Elementary Education Involvement: CSB Rugby, Faith Formation Teacher, Journey Group, JEC, Study Abroad I became an OL because... last year I saw a lot of my friends were OLs and it looked like so much fun, I figured it would be a great way to start off my senior year! If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: I would be ice because it comes in so many different forms, it's refreshing, it's free, and it reminds me of snow. Memorable College Experience: Sometimes I like to play "Restaurant Gorecki". Some friends and I go to dinner at Gorecki and we make fancy decorative food creations then serve them to each other. Some of my favorite memories happen hanging out in Gorecki for hours. It's a great place to run into lots of people. |

I became an OL because... I want the first years to start off with a great experience at CSB/SJU and I feel I can help them with that! I have a positive attitude and love to get involved. The minute I stepped on the campus at CSB/SJU I had an immediate feeling of friendliness and genuine sincerity and want to share that with others. If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: I would be an ice cream cone because it's cool and refreshing. You can mix it with a variety of flavors and it's fun every night! Name: Brianna Schrankler Class: 2012 SENIOORRRRR! Major: Biology (Pre-something that has yet to be determined haha) Involvement: CSB Dance Team, Institute for Women's Leadership, Swim Coach for Special Olympics, Optimist Club member, Allied Health Sciences Club member, Intramural Soccer, and Alternative Break Experiences! I became an OL because... I wanted to share the love and excitement I have for CSB/SJU with the incoming first year students. I can't wait to help them start their college experience in a fun, positive way! If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: Ice Cream because who doesn't love ice cream?!?! It's sweet and there are endless flavors to choose from, although I always tend to resort to cookie dough, making it the perfect treat all year round! Memorable College Experience: There are WAY too many, but my favorite would have to be studying and volunteering abroad in South Africa this past semester! |

Name: Emily Sherlock Class: 2012 Major: Elementary Education Involvement: Club Lacrosse, Education club, Orientation Leader, CSB/SJU Intramurals (beach volleyball, kickball, and softball), and Visto Swim Instructor. I became an OL because... I want to show the incoming first year students what CSB/SJU has to offer! I have loved every minute of college and want to express my passion to the first year students. I also want to make them feel comfortable in this community and be a resource for them throughout their whole college experience. If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: I would be a pancake because I could start everyone's day off right. Memorable College Experience: I would have to say Co-ed softball would be one of my most memorable college experiences. It was fun hanging out with friends outside on a nice day! Another memorable experience was having "family dinners" with my roommates and other friends. We would assign each house an item to bring and everyone would come grill out at our house on a nice day! It was awesome playing outdoor games and grilling on a nice spring day! |

I had a blast at Orientation and want to pass on a fun and memorable experience to incoming students. I loved the energy of the OL's and wanted to be a part of helping incoming Bennies and Johnnies adjust to college life and give them an opportunity to get comfortable with the campuses and have memorable and enjoyable first days of school. If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: If I could be any food, I would be a beet so I could reside on Schrute Farms, enjoying the daily company of Dwight and Mose. I wanted to get a chance to give other first years the same great experience that I had. Orientation is such a big part of the foundation of your first year at CSBSJU. If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: I would probably be sushi. 1) Its delicious 2) sometimes it looks pretty cool 3) fun people would go out to eat you! Memorable College Experience: During the Homecoming game of my first year, against bethel, we got a field goal within the last ten seconds of the game and everyone stormed the field before the game was even done! I still get goosebumps when I watch the youtube video of it! |

I became an OL because... I want to make the incoming First-years lives a little bit easier. If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: I would be Chipotle because all of the deliciousness wrapped in a tortilla makes so many people happy. Memorable College Experience: That one time, no wait, actually ALL of the goofy moments I've had with my roommates and friends. One time I accidently hit my roommate's hand and her cellphone was in it. The phone flew underneath the oven. It took us longer to get out because we couldn't stop laughing. Or the time we went puddle jumping around CSB or we went to a see a concert in the Pub. |

Name: Miah Winterfeldt Class: Sophomore (2014) Major: Social Science/History/Secondary Education Involvement: All College Choir, Intramurals (softball, volleyball, and soccer), CSB Dance Team, Writing Center Tutor I became an OL because... I want to help incoming first years start the year off right and take advantage of everything this amazing institution has to offer! And as an added bonus I get to meet all the stellar girls that make St. Ben's wonderful! If you could be any food, what would it be? Why?: Easy. Bacon. It's delicious and it makes everything better! Memorable College Experience: This was the hardest question because I've had soooo many great experiences already and I'm sure there will be many more to come but a few that stick out are hanging out with friends on the tundra on warm spring days. In between classes we'd throw around a frisbee or blow bubbles (I'm really a kid at heart!). Also as an education minor, I had the opportunity to participate in service learning where I was able to work with a group of high school students in a program called Collegebound. They were a fabulous and bright group of kids. I learned so much from them. (Honestly, I think I learned more from them than they did from me!) |
