Nicole Meiers

Nicole Meiers is an Ambassador who studied abroad in Australia.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.

I absolutely loved spending a week with an Aboriginal family. They touched my heart in a place that will never be forgotten. I was moved by the kindness and generosity displayed by the families in the Kimberley. They opened my eyes to new world, and I feel I can go after my dreams and never give up, because of the words told by the Morgan family in Australia.

Why did you choose the program in which you participated?

Australia was a place full of outdoor activities and beautiful landscape. Also, I was intrigued by the fact that we were able to attend a university with other Australian students. I felt Australia was the land down under that I would have never explored if I was not given the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Notre Dame Australia.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

I went to Australia scared to death, and I came out ready to take on anything that life throws at me. My experience was breathtaking, joyful, and unforgettable. I will find myself talking about it for the rest of my life!

How has the trip affected you? How are you different for having completed the experience?

What advice do you have for future Study Abroad Students?

I advise Study Abroad students to take advantage of every situation while abroad. Live it up, take it all in, and have no regrets! They have nothing to lose; you can only learn from every experience. They should not be afraid to try. They will love the experience!
