Morgan Dale is an Ambassador who studied abroad in London

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

One of my main reasons for selecting this school was because I was given the once in a life time opportunity to study abroad. Traveling is one of my biggest passions and studying abroad was one of the best experiences of my life. Coming from a small town in North Dakota, I choose London as my place of study because I liked the idea of studying in a highly populated and multicultural city. The internship opportunity also had a large impact on my decision to study abroad in London.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.

London is one of the most diverse cities in the world. While I was abroad I had the opportunity to work with, study with, and travel with people that come from all different backgrounds. The program that made a lasting impression on my life has been my internship experience. For my internship I had the opportunity to work with children at a school three times a week. Elementary Education is what I am majoring in so this was the perfect fit for me. During my internship I was able to work with a wide variety of diverse children and teachers.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

My abroad experience was fantastic. It is difficult to sum up a whole semesters worth of my experience in one small paragraph, but while I was abroad I made lasting memories and friendships that I am very thankful for today. It was a unique experience being able to study in a country different than my own. I was able to interact with members of all different societies. I was blessed with the opportunity to travel and experience life in eleven different countries while abroad. Studying abroad for me is something that will never be forgotten.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

I feel that studying abroad has made me a more responsible, knowledgeable, and independent person. There are several benefits to studying abroad. I did not have close relationships with any of the people that were planning to go on the trip to London. This forced me to interact with new individuals and form strong relationships with people that I had never met before. I was able to see diversity in a whole new light. I was also given the chance to travel to an assortment of different countries and experience a small portion of the greatness Europe has to offer.

What advice can you offer for CSB/SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

If you choose to study abroad, which you all should, it will be the best decision of your life.
