Evans Yamoah is an Ambassador who studied abroad in France.
Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.
When we were in Lyon, I tried traditional French meals...something that many in my group were willing to try. Eating this food enabled me to appreciate cultural French food even more.
Why did you choose the program in which you participated?
I studies abroad because I wanted to experience a whole new culture. I wanted to distance myself from the things that I am used to and immerse myself in a whole new culture to see how I would fare.
I chose France because I am French major and because I was interested in learning more about the culture.
Describe your overall study abroad experience.
It was amazing and I do not regret doing it. If I had the chance, I would do it all over again! One of the best experiences so far in my college career.
How has the trip affected you? How are you different for having completed the experience?
I have a different view on life now. I believe I have grown as a person and I appreciate things in life even more now.
What advice do you have for future Study Abroad Students?
Be open-minded, be eager to try new things and meet new people. It truly is a once in a life time opportunity so the wise thing to do is to take advantage of it.
