College of Saint Benedict sophomore golfer Kathryn Hauff (Fargo, N.D.) shot a 90 during the opening round of the NCAA Division III women's golf championship Tuesday at the Mission Hills Golf and Tennis Resort in Howley-in-the-Hills, Fla.
Hauff, the first Blazer to qualify for the tournament since 1998, was 17-over-par after the first day of the four-day tournament. She rests in a 12-way tie for 59th place in the tournament. There are 105 individuals playing in the tournament.
Two individuals share the top spot on the leaderboard - Paige Caldwell from Methodist University, and Natalie Matuszak from St. Mary's College (Ind.). Each shot 3-over-par rounds of 76. The team leader is Methodist University at 317.
