Percussion and Marimba Ensemble

• Performs music generally written from 1930 to the present
• Permission of instructor required
• Rehearsals: Monday evenings from 4:30-6:00 pm
• Directed by Dr. Patti Cudd
• Location: BAC Recital Hall
• Can be taken for 0-1 credit

Percussion students at CSB/SJU receive a high degree of individual attention from the instructor and they enjoy regular access to the Main Percussion Studio and Multiple Percussion Studio. The Percussion and Marimba Ensembles are renowned for their theatrical presentations of the unusual and unexpected. Guest composers and performers frequently work with students, including such artists as NEXUS and Zeitgeist New Music Ensemble. The Percussion Ensemble has been a guest on the Walker Art Center's Young Arts Series. The percussion ensemble has performed numerous live accompaniments to silent film and in 2003 premiered an original film as a visual accompaniment to Henry Cowell's Ostinato Pianissimo.
