MITIGATION SYSTEMS FOR SPECIFIC HOUSE TYPES

If you have implemented some or all of the methods described by the above link and would still like to do more, continue by clicking on your home's foundation below:

    Basement                      Slab                      Crawl Space

*PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT YOUR HOME SHOULD BE TESTED AFTER INSTALLING ANY MITIGATION SYSTEM TO MEASURE IF/HOW WELL THE SYSTEM IS WORKING.  BOTH MEASUREMENTS SHOULD TAKE PLACE IN THE SAME AREA AND UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS.*

Reduce Radon Levels in Your Home

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.  The Surgeon General and the EPA recommend testing for radon in homes that have high levels.  You should seriously consider some MITIGATION technique if your radon level is confirmed to be 4 PICOCURIES (pCi/L) or higher.  Radon levels less than this may still pose a risk, and in many cases may be reduced.  Obviously if your smoke and your home's radon concentration is high, your risk of lung cancer increases exponentially.
