In keeping with our public service mission, we offer alpha track detector (ATD) kits at cost to individuals in all states where permitted by law*. We manufacture these detectors when you order them since we have found that many detectors become contaminated when they are stored for longer than a few months. Our alpha track detector kits include a detector with instructions, outbound mailing, analysis, a written report, plus optional toll free personal consultation and rapid report by e-mail. Alpha track detectors need to be exposed for at least a month, preferably 3 months to 1 year. If you are unsure what kind of test you want to make click here. For answers to some frequently asked questions about radon testing click here. If you want to talk about your personal measurement strategy, you can call 1-800-820-3209. All your personal information and your results are kept confidential.
Two kits are available: the Basic kit and the Dual kit

*We have been manufacturing and analyzing ATDs for 20 years. During that time our detectors have proven accurate in tests run by government
labs (US Department of Energy Environmental Measurements Laboratory; US
Environmental Protection Agency National Air and Radiation Lab, and others) and private
test facilities. Our ATDs met the measurement proficiency requirements of the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency and were listed by the EPA when they operated the National
Radon Proficiency Program. Click here to see the copies of our detector's
EPA listing letters. The EPA listing program ended in 1998. We continue to manufacture, calibrate, and analyze our
detectors as we did when we were listed in the EPA Program. However, we do not participate
in the private sector listing program so that we can keep the costs for
individuals as low as possible. A few states have gone to the extremes of passing laws
prohibiting sales of detectors by organizations that do not pay their high listing fees
and business license. New Jersey has gone to the extreme of imposing criminal penalties on
people who sell or give away radon detectors without paying the state thousands in fees
and costs. Sorry NJ residents, my mission is to help people with radon without breaking
the law, so I can't send detectors to you.
Our detectors are rugged and reliable, but occasionally some are damaged in
transit.
A new detector will be sent to you in the unlikely case of any failures of material,
workmanship, or loss in the transport.
If you require large quantities of detectors at discounted prices (or live in NJ), contact Landauer. They are a reputable company with a solid record of ATD performance. In the past, they have had a price schedule of discounts for bulk sales and packaging .
