Poster Session & Photo Contest Details
One of the goals of the MN Study Abroad Returnee Conference is to allow all participants to share their study abroad experiences with other attendees. There will be plenty of opportunities to interact with your peers at the conference. Another way you may choose to share the impact of your study abroad experience is through the conference Poster Presentation and/or Photo Competition. This may be one of the first times you present your study abroad experience in a more formal way.
POSTER COMPETITION
We invite all participants to participate in the conference poster competition. Presenting your study abroad experience with a poster is an excellent way to share your experience with others, sharpen your communication and presentation skills, and can be a valuable line on your resume. Posters will be on display for a majority of the conference in the atrium area, and all registrants will have an opportunity to vote for the best poster.
Examples of posters can include research or any other significant academic work that you conducted on your study abroad program. Alternatively, a poster can focus on your personal reflection of your experience through textiles, art, photos, souvenirs, etc. We encourage you to visit the following website for guidelines on how to create an effective poster display: http://www.personal.psu.edu/drs18/postershow/.
We will provide either self-standing floor easels that can accommodate poster boards, or large printouts mounted on foam core OR table space for self-standing posters (tri-folds, table easels, etc). Please indicate which display method you will use on the registration form. We cannot accommodate computers due to security concerns and electricity will not be available for individual tables.
Prizes
All conference participants will have the opportunity to vote for the best poster and prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third places.
- First Prize: $100 Visa Gift Card

- Third Prize: $25 Visa Gift Card

PHOTO CONTEST
We invite all participants to participate in the conference photo contest. Photos will be on display throughout the conference. Presenting your study abroad experience through images, accompanied by a short statement, is an excellent way to share your experience with others, sharpen your communication and presentation skills, and can be a valuable line on your resume.
Photo Contest participants should arrive between 12:30- 1 pm to register and hand in their entry. Winners will be determined through a popular vote or "People's Choice" by conference attendees. The participants whose photos are selected will be asked to share their photo statement at the closing ceremony.
- Photo Specifications: 5x7 glossy photo, either black and white or color.
- Display: Photo is to be mounted to an 8.5x11 piece of paper of any color. Student's name should be written on the reverse side of the display.
- Photo Statement: In 200 words or less, the photo statement should include the photo's title and location as well as a description of how the photo reflects a significant aspect of student's study abroad experience. The statement is to be mounted on the 8.5x11 display.
