Combining history and suspense

Author reads from latest book at CSB Booklovers Night

College of Saint Benedict alumna Judith Koll Healey's novels, Canterbury Papers and The Rebel Princess, combine history and suspense involving one of the most mysterious and intriguing female figures in medieval history, Alias Capet. From a historical figure, who is usually little more than a footnote in history books, Healey uses sumptuous detail to explore the courtly lives of spiritually frustrated medieval women.

Healey visited CSB recently for a reading from her most recent novel, The Rebel Princess. For her reading, she chose what she called one of her favorite parts of the book-a rather heated discussion between Alias and the Abbot.

Healey is a published poet and short fiction writer and has lectured internationally on the topic of art and the unconscious. She lives in Minneapolis, Minn.
