Día de la Identidad
The Día de la Identidad (Identity Day) Celebration on April 10, 2011 will be held at Saint Boniface Church located in Cold Spring, MN. This event will commemorate the Latino/Latina culture present not only in the CSB/SJU community, but in our local surrounding communities as well. Identity Day will provide CSB/SJU students an invaluable opportunity to immerse themselves within the Latino/Latina culture and through ongoing engagement with members from the local community the relationship between CSB/SJU and the Latino/Latina community will be strengthened.
Identity Day will be an educational experience about exploring the concept of identity through a myriad of popular media; most notably food, music and dance. Through a photo display coordinated and produced by a non-profit organization, Casa de Guadalupe in conjunction with Dr. Corey Shouse Tourino, Director of the Latino & Latin American Studies Department (LLAS), Intercultural Center, and the Exploring the Latin America Cultures Club (E.L.A.C.), Co-Chairs: Luis A. Beltran and Thelma Gonzalez, the concept of the concept of identity will be defined through the usage of verbal and visual means in hopes of appreciating diversity and inclusion concurrently.
