Act A Fool
Act a Fool celebrates and educates about a culture that is not apparent to most students on campus: Hip Hop. This event will be held in HCC Alumnae Hall at CSB at 9:30 p.m. on September 15, 2012. Inside, lights will illuminate the stage and dance floor. Generally, Hip Hop is seen in a negative light, so the music selection during this program will portray the better side of Hip Hop music and culture. We intend to show the modest forms of Hip Hop, such as the light "groove to" music and the deeper bass hip hop with stronger messages. Hip Hop is generally thought of as pertaining to money, drugs and sex. It is also often viewed as an explicit (mainstream) form of music that is degrading of others, and this view blinds people from understanding the deeper meaning behind Hip Hop: an intelligent movement. Along with performances, there will also be a graffiti workshop event before the main event. This will allow people to see another dimension of Hip Hop. This graffiti workshop is not to promote vandalization, but show art in a deeper context.
