Format of the Honors Thesis Proposal

One of the things you will learn in the course of the HONR 396 seminar is the form of the honors proposal.

The proposal, due at the end of your junior year, should include:

1. A title page including your name, advisor's name, date.
2. An approval page with the signatures of your advisor, your two faculty evaluators, the department chair, and the Director of the Honors Thesis Program. (See Sample Signature Page.)
3. A brief statement of the purpose of the project and its value within the discipline chosen.
4. A preliminary outline of the project.
5. A preliminary bibliography.
6. A four sentence summary of the proposal which can be used in the Honors Program newsletter.

The proposal should be typed, double-spaced, and in triplicate: one for you, one for your project advisor, and one for the Director of the Honors Thesis Program. Proposals are due at the end of the second semester of your junior year. Students working on creative projects should speak with their advisors to decide if a bibliography is appropriate.
