How did you decide to become an English major?
I knew from the get go entering college that I wanted to choose a major that I felt passionate about. Reading has always been one of my consistent hobbies. I also had my eye on attending law school which gave me freedom to essentially choose any major. English, with its focus on articulating your ideas and translating the thoughts of others, fit perfectly.
How did you decide to come to CSB/SJU?
There really was no contest for which college I was going to attend. Having one of the best colleges in the state practically in my back yard made the "choice" simple. I haven't regretted it even once.
What has been your favorite English course?
To choose just one is very tricky because I liked different classes for different reasons. I loved having the opportunity to explore Shakespeare and find the beauty and magic in his writing. Like most English majors, I wish I had the opportunity to take more classes.
How do you feel about the professors?
I have always said the professors for the English Department are some of the best the schools have to offer. They are quirky and so unbelievably kind. They truly want you to succeed and flourish.
What's been your biggest challenge while being here?
Leaving after a wonderful three and a half years was really tough. CSB/SJU becomes your home and your friends, your new family. Seeing it go was a definite transition period, but I now look to the future with excitement about all the new things that could happen.
What are your plans post-CSB/SJU?
I am currently working as a paralegal at Rinke Noonan in Saint Cloud. So far I love the challenge and the room to grow in my technical writing skills. Law school is still my goal but I am not in a rush to get there. Life will take its course, and I am content to sit back and let it.
