Student Opportunities
Students engaged in undergraduate research or creative works are encouraged to present their projects at regional and national meetings. Here are several meetings at which our students have presented in the past.
12th Annual Celebrating Scholarship and Creativity Day - April 24, 2012. This is a campus wide event that recognizes the achievements of the many student scholars engaged in independent creative work or research projects at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University.
NCUR -- The 2013 National Conference on Undergraduate Research will take place in La Crosse, WI at the University of La Crosse on April 11-13, 2013. NCUR will bring together undergraduates involved in scholarly and artistic activities representing a range of disciplines including creative arts, mathematics, business, social sciences, humanities, physical and life science, natural resources, and engineering among others. The call for abstracts opens October 1, 2012 and closes Decemeber 4, 2012. NCUR 2013 Online registration opens January 15, 2013 and closes March 12, 2013. CSB/SJU will pay almost all the costs for up to 10 students to present at the conference. See this page for more information about the CSB/SJU funding.
Posters on the Hill- The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) will host its 17th annual undergraduate poster session on Capitol Hill. This event will help members of Congress understand the importance of undergraduate research by talking directly with the students whom these programs impact. The application opens on September 1, 2012 and closes on November 1, 2012. Contact Marah Jacobson Schulte with questions.
PCSAC- PCSAC is a poster session for undergraduate student scholars that will be held in the Minnesota State Capital rotunda. Its objective is to publicize the excellent research done by students and their faculty collaborators at Minnesota's private colleges and universities. The event is organized by a steering committee of faculty from across the state, and sponsored by the Minnesota Private College Council.
SCSU Colloquium- The 16th annual Student Research Colloquium 2013 will take place at the Atwood Memorial Center on the St. Cloud State University campus (date TBA). The Colloquium brings together students, faculty, and alumni involved in scholarly and artistic activities representing a range of disciplines, including Creative Arts, Mathematics, Business, Social Science, Education, Humanities, Physical and Life Sciences, and Engineering, among others. CSBSJU students and faculty are welcomed.
