February Letter to CSB Students
Dear CSB Degree Candidate:
Congratulations on your upcoming commencement scheduled for Saturday, May 12th at 2:00 p.m. in the Haehn Campus Center Clemens Field House. Listed below is information you will need for your graduation from St. Ben's. Please read carefully and keep for further reference.
GRAD FINALE: Wednesday, March 14th - Gorecki 204 - 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. You may order your announcements, have your picture taken, pick up your cap and gown, order class rings and pre-order a Commencement Ceremony DVD. Surveys will be taken and prizes will be awarded.
GRADUATION FEE: A fee of $50 will be charged to your April account to defray the cost of your cap and gown and your meal tickets.
ACADEMIC ATTIRE: Cap and gowns will be distributed at the Grad Finale on Wednesday, March 14th to all students who are eligible for Commencement. You will be contacted by the Registrar's Office by March 14th if you are not eligible. If you are unable to be on campus on March 14th, gowns may be picked up at the CSB Bookstore on Thursday, May10th and Friday, May 11th from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 12th from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
COMMENCEMENT TICKETS: Each graduate will receive (4) tickets for her family members and guests to attend the ceremony in the Haehn Campus Center Clemens Field House. Doors will open at 12:00 p.m. for Commencement seating in the Field House (handicap seating will be available). Additional seating will be available, without tickets in O'Connell's and Alumnae Hall, there your guests will view the ceremony on big screen TV. You may also view ceremonies on Channel 15 in all student housing. Handicap seating will be available.
COMMENCEMENT TICKET DISTRIBUTION: Your packet of ceremony tickets will be distributed at the CSB Bookstore on Thursday and Friday, May 10th and 11th between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. You must present your I.D. card to claim them.
GRADUATION MASS: We invite you and your guests to attend the Graduation Mass as an important part of your special day. It is a time to give thanks for the wonderful years at the College of St. Benedict and for all of us to pray for each of you and bless you on your next ventures. There will be two options for times to attend this Graduation Mass: 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. With the scheduled meal times at Gorecki this year, it makes it easier to attend Mass before or after your meal. If you would like to participate in a Liturgical Ministry for your Graduation Mass (Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Gift Bearer, etc.) please contact us at csbliturgy@csbsju.edu.
MEAL TICKETS: Each graduate will receive (5) complimentary tickets for the commencement meal. You will need one of the meal tickets for yourself. The meal will be served in the Gorecki Center from 9:30 a.m. - 12:45. p.m. We will have the Commencement meal tickets available for pickup in Gorecki Fireplace Lobby on the following dates/times:
Monday - May 7 (Last day of class ): 11:00 am-1:00 pm and 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
Tuesday - May 8 (Study Day): 11:00 am-1:00 pm and 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
Wednesday - May 9 (Exam day #1): 11:00 am-1:00 pm and 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
MORE INFORMATION REGARDING MEAL TICKETS: Tickets will be available for seating times beginning at 9:30am with the last seating available at 12:45pm. There are limited tickets available for each seating time. Additional meal tickets for each dining time will be available for purchase on Commencement morning in the Gorecki Fireplace Lobby. Adult $9.00 (plus tax), Children 4-12 yrs old $4.50 (plus tax), under 3 yrs old is Free. Cash, credit card or check (payable to the College of Saint Benedict) for meal ticket sales, no charges to a validine/ID card. All guests and graduates entering Gorecki Dining Room and Gorecki Conferencing Rooms must have a meal ticket (except children under 3).
REHEARSAL: Rehearsal will take place Friday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m. SHARP! Please line up on the lawn between the Haehn Campus Center and the Benedicta Arts Center. Line-up information will be sent by email and posted with numerical and alphabetical markings on the sidewalk. In the event of rain, line-up will be in Claire Lynch. Rehearsal is mandatory for all graduating seniors. If you cannot attend rehearsal or ceremonies, please contact Anastasia Nathe in the Registrar's Office at 363-3398.
PHOTOS: A professional photographer has been hired to take pictures at the graduation ceremony. Family members are encouraged to remain in their seats. You will receive a color proof in the mail approximately one week after the ceremony. There is no obligation to purchase. Cap and gown portraits will also be taken at the Grad Finale.
VIDEO RECORDING: This year we are offering the 2012 CSB Commencement DVD for $27. Please pre-order at the Grad Finale or online at www.csbsju.edu/bookstore or call 1-800-420-4509.
SIMULCAST: The commencement ceremony will be available for viewing on the CSB campus cable TV system on channel 15.
COMMENCEMENT WEBCAST: The College of St. Benedict will webcast Commencement exercises over the Internet. A computer connected to the Internet with a high speed connection is all that is needed. To view the webcast, go to the CSB/SJU Commencement Web page at http://www.csbsju.edu/commencement.htm and look for a link to the 2012 CSB Commencement webcast. There will be a signal available to check your connection one half hour prior to commencement.
