A Babel of Languages in the Dead Sea Scrolls

Thousands of fragments with writing on them have been found near the Dead Sea. One feature of these texts is that they are written in different languages-Hebrew, Aramaic & Greek with some Latin & Nabatean. Why were these languages used & what do those decisions tell us about those who made those choices?

2013 Women's Month Keynote Speaker, Saima Wahab. Ms. Wahab was born in Afghanistan and immigrated to the US when she was a teenager. She then went back to Afghanistan with the US Army to act as a cultural advisor and is the only female Pashto translator in the world. She has a book out called, In My Father's Country: An Afghan Woman Defies Her Fate, in which she offers insight to being a woman in both American and Afghan culture and the oppressions that women face in both.
