Women As Global Leaders Conference, Abu Dhabi
The College of Saint Benedict will be sending its 4th delegation of women to the 4th Women as Global Leaders Conference in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates March 8-15, 2012. This year's theme is "Creating a Sustainable Future for the World." This event is an opportunity for young women leaders from around the world to gather, meet important international leaders, establish partnerships and share experiences and learn from each other. Along with attending the conference, this trip will include pre-travel in the area in which the delegation will visit other universities in the area and learn about the Emirati culture. Carrie Vandelac, Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Heather Nicole Saladino, Resident Director of Lottie Hall and Coordinator of the Hynes Scholars Program, and Liz Beaty, Student Director of the Institute for Women's Leadership, will be leading the delegation.
We will be accepting applications from students who wish to participate starting September 19th. Twelve students will be selected to serve on the delegation. The delegates must participate in a series of pre-trip orientation sessions prior to departing to the UAE. Students will be expected to pay for all costs that come with this trip, about $1500, (this amount is dependent on airfare prices), plus bring thier own spending money. A stipend of $480 will be provided to students, which will cover the registration fee for the Conference. This fee includes registration and entrance to the conference, a Gala dinner, transportation to and from the conference, hotel stay for four nights, and daily breakfast. Students must have (or be able to obtain) a valid passport and be eligible for a visitor's visa to the UAE.
