CSB Spring Move-In Information
Frequently Asked Questions...
When can I move in?
Move in day is Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 9:00 am. You should park near your new residence hall but go to the Information Desk in Mary Commons to pick up your move in packet which will have your keys. There will be a transfer student orientation that afternoon and you should watch for information from Student Activities and Leadership Development regarding the program.
When do classes start?
Classes begin on Monday, January 14, 2013.
What do I do until classes start?
The Orientation Planning Committee has been working hard to develop a short orientation program specifically for transfer students that will help you get acquainted and comfortable with your new home. There will also be plenty of time to meet new friends, get organized and become more familiar with St. Ben's. It is a busy time, so come rested and ready to learn and enjoy. For specific questions about the Spring Orientation program, please contact the Orientation Office at (320) 363-5254.
What should I plan to bring with me?
Talk to your roommate(s) to see which items you will share or may not need to bring. Lofts and refrigerators can be rented through Bedloft.com. Please refer to the Bedloft.com brochure enclosed in this packet. Lofts may not be brought from home. Only lofts through Bedloft.com are allowed in the residence halls. All beds are standard twin beds; therefore, you will need standard twin sheets. Extra long mattresses are available if needed. Just contact us!
All washers in the laundry rooms on campus are High-Efficiency (HE) washers and require HE laundry detergent. HE detergents are concentrated and low-sudsing, especially for low water HE washers. Regular detergents will wreck the washers and make doing laundry much more difficult. Please look for the "HE" symbol when you shop for laundry detergent.
Please note that candles, incense, and other items with exposed heating elements are NOT permitted in residence halls or apartments.
How can others contact me?
You will be assigned a Mail Box as listed on your class schedule. Your mailing address will be as follows:
Your name
CSB #
37 South College Avenue
St. Joseph, MN 56374-2001
Please note the format of your address is IMPORTANT! Be sure to tell family to put College of Saint Benedict (or CSB) PRIOR to your Box number so that mail is not mistakenly delivered to PO Boxes in the City of St Joseph!
What about parking?
You must purchase a parking permit from CSB security if you wish to keep a car on campus. Please see their website for more information http://www.csbsju.edu/csbsecurity/. The bus system at CSB/SJU is very efficient; buses run regularly between campuses when classes are in session. Limited bus service into St. Cloud is also available. Please consider this when thinking about bringing a car with you.
Please feel free to call us at (320) 363-5580 or toll free at 1-800-249-9840 or via email at housinginfo@csbsju.edu if you have any questions about this information. We are here to help make the transition to residence hall-community living a bit easier. We look forward to meeting you soon! Please be aware, all campus offices and departments will be closed December 21 - January 2 as we celebrate the holidays with our families. Have a safe and happy holiday season, we look forward to meeting you in the new year!
