Advocacy
Through educating ourselves and the wider campus community on justice issues, we can raise awareness and widen the support base for combating injustice. We strive to be leaders on campus in advocacy and awareness work and to serve as a resource for people wanting to learn how to integrate social justice work into their faith. In addition to others, we hold these events annually:
- Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week: (November 11th - November 18th 2012)
A national advocacy week centered around hunger and homelessness awareness issues, concluding with an in-depth devotion and community service opportunity - Catholic Social Teaching Week (CST Principles): Affirmations in Gorecki, students were encouraged to write notes of affirmation and they were displayed on the wall in Gorecki.

In collaboration with Amnesty International, CSB Campus Ministry brings a prophetic Catholic voice to human rights issues - Joint Religious Legislative Council (JRLC) Day on the Hill:
A trip to the MN State Capitol to advocate for our faith based values - Fair Trade Advocacy:
Through our unique partnership with Catholic Relief Services and our Diocesan Mission office, SSJ promotes fair trade through education and an annual fair trade sale.
In partnership with the Minnesota Public Interest Research Group (MPIRG), we tabled to help students pre-register to vote and engage them to participate in the 2012 election.
#whataboutsudan:
This semester we tabled in Gorecki in support of Catholic Relief Service's #whataboutsudan campaign that aimed to collect signatures for a petition to pressure the moderators of the presidential debates to ask the question "what about Sudan?" to the candidates.
Givin' Back At Gorecki:

One of our most recent events was a benefit for the Somali population affected by the ongoing drought. This fundraiser included authentic Somali food served by students in Gorecki Dining Center and members of the St. Cloud Somali community were invited to join in the event as well.
Other past events have included:
- Invisible Children representatives coming to campus
- CRS Operation Rice Bowls Project
- Hope for Haiti Concert
- Empty Bowls
- Human Rights Day
- Prayer Vigil for Peace in Sudan, with special guest Bishop Taban of Southern Sudan.
- Urban Plunges: Weekends of community service in the Twin cities or St. Cloud area.
