Gift Bearer
Thank you for your commitment to the ministry. Gift bearers should arrive in the gathering place in the Sacred Heart Chapel by 5:40 p.m. on their scheduled Sunday to check-in and receive instructions. If you are unable to be a gift bearer, please find a replacement and let our staff know as soon as possible by contacting David Fremo at ext. 5062 or another member of the liturgy staff at ext. 5603.
Before the Eucharist
- Sign-in on the volunteer list in the Gathering Place by 5:40 p.m.
- Choose which gift you are going to bring up to the altar
- Receive your gift-bearing instructions if you are new
- Sit in the assigned pews close to the gift table
During the Eucharist (toward the end of the collection time)
- The gift bearer bringing up the wine, adds a drip of water to the wine cup and decanter
- Gift bearers wait for the collection to be completed before moving toward the altar
- The gift bearer with the bread stands on the north side of the altar (opposite side of the choir)
- The gift bearer with decanter and cup stand on south side of the altar (back to the choir)
- The gift bearer with the collection basket walks behind the the other two gift bearers and receives the collection basket from the person with the baskets from the other two sides of the church
- The gift bearers present their gifts to the presider and the person with the collection places it on the floor in front of the altar on the opposite side of the presider
- Presider and all of the gift bearers bow to the altar and gifts when all the gifts have been presented
Note: It is important to walk with honor and stand by the altar with dignity. It is also important to dress appropriately.
