With the recent dawning of the “Asian Century,” a new world is being forged through unprecedented East-West interaction. Today’s college students must be able to relate with Asian peoples when they enter the work force of tomorrow. By providing a broad background in Asian history, culture, society, politics and economics, the Asian Studies Program at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University prepares students to take advantage of the many opportunities the Asian Century has to offer.

- Kuni Shimoji - serves on security panel for a symposium on the US-Korea-Japan trilateral relationship in Washington, DC. See "Security Symposium" for Kuni's comments. Kuni is delighted to show what our young alum (class of 2013) are doing in DC and beyond the border of the US. Also, as an alumni and a former executive committee member of the Japan-America Student Conference (JASC) himself, he would appreciate your help to spread the word about the JASC and KASC! This year, an alumni Senai Mesfin (class of 2013) is joining KASC and visits South Korea with Tiffany. He would love to have more johnnies and bennies participate in both conferences. If you are interested to learn more about the conferences, please visit the following link: http://iscdc.org/
- Tiffany Vang - Visits South Korea to participate in the four-week long Korea-America Student Conference (KASC). She is leading the conference as a chair of the American Executive Committee.
Please contact Norma Koetter, Coordinator of Asian Studies, for more information on our alums.
