gis maps Geographic Information System (GIS) is a practical visual tool for organizing data into maps. The Arboretum has used GIS as a device for land management to understand and visualize the distribution of geographic features while providing a detailed description of any particular stand or land feature. View a variety of examples of how GIS can be applied.

Arboretum offices and many of our events are located in the New Science Center, building number 9A on the Saint John's University campus map.
