Why CSB/SJU

Why did you choose CSB/SJU?

During my senior year I attended one of the Fly-in Weekends for out-of-state students. I stayed with a current student and was introduced to many friendly people eager to make me feel welcome. There was definitely a tangible sense of community; everyone on his residence hall floor knew each other and was more than willing to talk to me and share their stories of how they came to be at Saint John's. More so, they genuinely included me in their weekend plans.

During the visit, I also met with the head cross country and track coach, Tim Miles. He described Saint John's as the perfect place to "live, study, and run." That got me thinking: where I choose to go to college becomes my home for four years. After the visit, I began to see myself becoming a Johnnie. Reflecting on the campus and the people who call it home, I knew I wanted to call it home, too.

I compete in Cross Country and Track and Field. It's great to continue racing as well as to be a part of two great teams. I've met teammates with different backgrounds and different perspectives that I would never have encountered in high school. They've certainly helped me grow as an athlete, student, and person. Furthermore, I am involved in Men's Spirituality Group. Through this a group of men in my class meet about once a week with two monks. We all learn more about ourselves and each other while futhering our relationship with God.
