Fun Facts: I live in Duluth, three hours from campus, where my wife, Katie, is the FABULOUS Director of College Guidance at Marshall School. I am blessed with a precocious, strong-minded, five-year-old daughter, Sophia. My undergraduate degree includes majors in studio art and organizational communication. My master’s degree focused on the interplay of art, nature and culture in America. I also oversee our marketing efforts including the development of admission publications.

Tom's Claims to Fame

  • Once slept in a hostel at the top of Mount Olympus. (Extremely fun.)
  • Was in the front and center seat at TWO Springsteen concerts. (Very fun.)
  • Ran five marathons (Grandma's and Twin Cities). (Not that much fun.)
  • Had heart surgery in 2007 to replace a degenerative heart valve (Not fun at all.)
  • Set foot on the largest island (Ryan Island) on the largest lake (Siskiwit) on the largest island (Isle Royale) on the largest lake in the world (Lake Superior). (Much more fun than heart surgery.)
  • Alyssa Milano (I called her Allison) once gave me a tour of her parents' house. (No kidding.)
  • I once walked past Sandra Bullock and her husband, Jesse James, in the Heathrow Airport.
  • I paddled and portaged over 50 miles in one day (four times.)
