Fun Facts: I love Chocolate Devotion at Cold Stone Creamery and could eat at Mazatlan in Mankato, MN, forever (yummm!). As you read above, I am Jamaican and so while you might be tempted to pronounce my name of Shana "Shane-a" or "Shann-a", my name is actually pronounced "Shaw-na"-as we pronounce our vowels slightly different in the Caribbean. I am immensely proud of my heritage but am also very open to new ideas, cultures and points of view. I am a fan of conspiracy theories, consider myself a movie buff in training wheels and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Pirates of the Caribbean four-yay Captain Sparrow!
What impresses Shana about CSB/SJU: What impresses me about CSB/SJU is the commitment to global perspective. In an era where globalization is so rampant and nations are increasingly interdependent, it is important that all students be prepared for a world where interactions with all types of people are both expected and needed; CSB/SJU definitely prepares its students for that. One of the ways that this is done is through the extensive semester long programs that CSB/SJU offers. Our study abroad program features 16 study abroad programs on 6 continents! In addition to that, all of these study abroad programs are lead by CSB/SJU faculty and thus the students always have a safe base on which to rely. If a student wanted to have a shorter study abroad experience, they could also study with someone during Summer term. While I could go on and on about the many other things that impress me about CSB/SJU, I'd rather talk with you about it so shoot me an email or stop in to see me on a visit. Hope to see you soon!
