Application Options

If you are applying to one or more of the other Common Application member institutions, you might find it more efficient to use the Common Application to apply to CSB/SJU.

Consider using the CSB/SJU GET INspired Application if you are not applying to any of the other member institutions of the Common Application. The GET INspired Application is the quickest and easiest way to apply.

Writing Sample
The writing sample is an essential part of your application. It gives the Admission Committee an opportunity to learn about you as a person. Your writing sample also will serve as an example of your writing abilities.

Official Academic Records/Transcripts
Please request all of your secondary and post-secondary institutions to send official copies of your academic records (transcripts) to the Admission Office (see address below). These records should be sent by airmail, Federal Express, DHL, etc. All academic records must have an original signature of an institutional office and bear the seal of the institution.

Test Scores (TOEFL and SAT)
You must have an official test score report sent to the Admission Office. The TOEFL and SAT school code for CSB is 6104; for SJU it is 6624. If you take more than one test we will consider your best score. The TOEFL test, or other similar test of English language ability, is required for all international applicants. The SAT is recommended but not required. If English had been the primary language of instruction throughout secondary school, the TOEFL test will be waived. In place of the TOEFL, two teacher recommendations are required.

Include CSB/SJU as a recipient of your test scores when registering for the TOEFL and/or the SAT. For the TOEFL, go to http://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/scores/send/ for instructions on how to have your TOEFL scores sent. 
For the SAT, go to http://sat.collegeboard.org/scores/ for instructions on how to have your SAT scores sent.

Other External Examinations
Among those recognized are the International Baccalaureate Higher Level exam, the British General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) "A" level exam, the East/West African "A" level exam (EASCE) (WASCE), the French Baccalaureate II exam, the Norwegian Upper-Secondary School Certificate, German Abitur exam, and other country-specific exams.

*The Common Application is a not-for-profit organization that serves students and member institutions by providing an admission application-online and in print-that students may submit to any of the more than 400 members. Membership is limited to colleges and universities that evaluate students using a holistic selection process.
