Admission Statement

Admission to the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University is open to all qualified students who demonstrate in their application promise of success in college. The traditional indicators of ability-college preparatory curriculum, college entrance exams, grade point averages and high school rank-are important and carefully considered. In addition, Saint Benedict's and Saint John's seek to enroll students who show promise of community contribution and productive participation in the classroom as evidenced by both their academic record and their participation in extra-curricular activities.

A campus interview and tour are recommended for interested students. Call the Admission Office to set up an appointment.

Saint Benedict's and Saint John's review applications for admission beginning December 1. Students who submit a completed application by the December 1 Early Action deadline date will receive an admission decision and scholarship notification by the end of December. An application is considered complete when we have received the following: Application for admission and scholarship, $30 application fee (waived if applying online by December 1), personal statement, official high school transcript, ACT or SAT results, extra curricular and personal activities, teacher recommendation. Following the Early Action deadline date, we recommend students apply by the February 1 priority deadline date. Admission decisions following December 1 are rolling beginning January 15; scholarship notifications follow admission decisions within 3 weeks. Although no absolute deadline is imposed, we recommend applying no later than February 1 of the year. To guarantee enrollment, students must enroll by May 1. Enrollment after May 1 is possible only if the first-year class has not been filled; check with the office of admission.
